Expired coupons (DO NOT THROW THEM AWAY)

With the end of each month, comes expired coupons and an opportunity to bless others. Military families overseas can use expired coupons for up to six months past their expiration date at military commissaries. These families want and need our coupons. There's a few different ways to send your expired coupons overseas:

Option #1

You can go to the Overseas Coupon Program website, and follow their instructions for mailing coupons. If you use this site, you'll send your coupons to a base of your choosing. The coupons will be put in a box at the front of the commissary for the shoppers to use.

Before you send your coupons, contact the base to see if they have any specific preferences as to the way the coupons are sent. Most military bases ask that the coupons be neatly clipped and sorted into 2 categories: "food" (anything that humans would eat) and "non-food" (everything else, including pet food), with each pile placed in a labeled ziploc bag.

Option #2

You can send your coupons to:

Toni Anderson
8633 Gaffney Street
Fort Meade, MD 20755

Coupons sent to Toni need to be cut neatly but they do not need to be sorted.
If you have any questions for Toni, she can be reached at coupons4troops@comcast.net

Option #3

You can send your coupons directly overseas to:

Alysn Ford
PSC 2 BOX 5187
APO AE 09012

Again, the coupons need to be cut neatly, but they do not need to be sorted.

***A FEW NOTES ***

The postage to mail coupons overseas is the same as stateside, but if you are mailing something larger than an envelope you will have to fill out a customs form.

Please do not send coupons more than 3 months past their expiration date because of the time it takes to get them to the families overseas for distribution.

Walgreens

Stopped by walgreens yesterday and purchased the scented oil refills and guess what I got too?? Each refill had a peelie that had 1 free oil warmer. So for each scented oil refill I bought (with my bogo free coupons plus the 1.00 rebate) I got a free warmer. I ended up leaving with 6 refills and 6 warmers for something like $7 or 8 dollars and I will get 6.00 of that back. What a deal!!

Quick trip to Rite Aid

So while stuck in traffic I decided to take the streets home last night and saw a Rite Aid. I had my coupons with me so I figured why not just see what they had. Great decision!! They had summer clearance and things were 90% off. I got a 10 by 10portable gazebo type thing for 5.00 bucks can you believe that. Orignally something like 35.00. Sorry for the poor pic but I used my camera phone.

Check your clearance rack at Walgreens

So I made my first trip to Walgreens, it was actually very successful and I had no problems with my coupons although most of them beeped the cashier put them through anyways. On top of getting the great deals on toothpaste and glase air freshners I found a Pur water filteration system the one with the flavor drops on clearance for 11.99. It was originally marked 51.99 but on clearance plus the refill flavors were on clearance for 3.00 and the had a ton of them. So be sure to check out the clearance racks I also saw sandals 75% off and tons of hannah montana and high school musical school items marked from $.25-$1.50

Should I start walgeen'ing

No walgreen'ing isn't a word at least I don't think it is but I've heard cvs'ing so why not walgreen'ing??? So I've been seeing all the great deals people have been getting all Walgreens and wonder if I should join. As it is I am finally catching on to CVs'ing and learning to organize my coupons. I think my whole thought process revolves around customer service and use of coupons. It would be one thing if all the stores and cashier all worked the same but let's face it they don't. One day you have a great day the next day you get the cashier who acts like when you use a coupon it's coming out of her check. I just wish CVS as well as all the other stores had a coupon policy posted at each register so there was no more questioning what kind of day you will have when you decide to go to the store. If I knew that when I entered Walgreens I'd get all these great deals I hear others are getting I would start shoppping there in a heartbeat but let's face reality you just never know. I even tried to do some homework and emailed Walgreens asking them to send me a copy of there coupon policy, but the response I got was that they don't have one??? WHAT?? How is that? So then I replied with more specific questions and am still waiting on a response.

Mail call Friday...

Look what I got in the mail this week. I have to say when I first signed up for this free sample I thought no way they're giving them for free this thing is like 10-15 dollars in the store so not only did I sign up but signed my bf up too. So imagine my shock not even 3 weeks later when I recvd it in the mail and my bf recvd his the day after I got mine!! Free samples rule.

Cvs Summer Clearance 90% off

So after realizing I had a few CVS coupons that were expiring today I thought I would venture into CVS on my way home from work. Right as I walk in I notice the 90% (yes 90%off) sales sign for summer clearance. First thing next to the carts was charcoal 79cents I couldn't believe it so I scanned it (by the way the same machine that you scan your card when you frist walk in is also a scanner when you need to check prices) and sure enough it was 79cents. Being the carts were so small I was thinking hmmm how many can I fit in one cart then I thought logically to just put one in the cart and tell the cashier how many I want them back the car in. Yeah I sound insane but my bf loves to bbq and I love to eat it :o) . Not only was the charcoal on sale but so was the lighter fluid. Let's face it I live in SoCal so the weather is never really ever to bad to bbq, which leads me to the next item. Fla vor ice I think there called (I'll double check) anyways I've read on other peoples blogs that they are on clearance I've been to 3 stores in CA and none of them even after lugging them all the way to the register come out on clearance maybe again because It still feels like summer here? Has anyone else In CA had any luck with there's being on clearance?? Not only does my bf love bbq but he loves those otter pop types of things and I'd be an even greater gf if I came home with boxes full (on top of ECB's of course)

First Post

Wow, wasn't sure if this day would ever come. I debated and debated each day on whether I should venture out into this whole "blog world" but after stumbling thru several other blogs and seeing the great deals they got and then experiencing my own I thought why not what's the harm. I see I have a lot to learn and hopefully as the days go on I can get advice and tips from you on how to make my blog GREAT! I will post as much as I can about things ranging from savings to just out of the blue thoughts. Hopefully I can connect with other groups as well as other bloggers from California.
